A Comparison of Isuzu D-Max and Mitsubishi L200 Pickup Trucks: Which Towers Above?

Power and Performance

We've stocked the Isuzu D-Max since our first days as an Isuzu dealer - it's one of our most frequently purchased models and easily one of the most popular pickup trucks worldwide. We can attest not only for its range and durability, but also its status as a true powerhouse. The 1.8L Diesel engine puts down an impressive 164 PS, or around 162 BHP. The Mitsubishi is a strong contender, but only produces 150 PS (147 BHP) from its 2.2L turbocharged engine.

Towing Capacity

There's little surprise that both the D-Max and the L200 offer the maximum towing capacity of 3,500kg. This is their legal limit. In terms of payload capacity, the D-Max wins out boasting a minimum of 1115kg on the Double Cab model compared with the L200's 1080kg on the Barbarian trim. When towing, always follow best practice:

• Never over load a trailer.
• Ensure your trailer is secured appropriately.
• Never tow more than the vehicles Braked Towing Capacity.

Interior Space and Features

In the Isuzu D-Max, the interior is practical and packed with convenience features. The 6-way adjustable drivers seat as well as Air Conditioning, DAB radio plus bluetooth connectivity makes for a driving experience you won't forget any time soon. We've done our fair share of miles in the D-Max and can tell you first-hand; it's comfortable both on the motorway and off the beaten-track, made easier by the driver-assistance features and 9" multi-information display on the V-Cross trim. Mitsubishi match Isuzu fairly well here, providing similar driver comforts such as leather upholstery, a multi-function display and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on the Warrior and Barbarian versions.

Which pickup is right for me?

Both the Isuzu D-Max and Mitsubishi L200 are excellent choices when selecting a double cab pickup truck. Depending on your exact circumstances, one may be more suitable for your needs. If you're in one of our rural farming communities, taking the vehicle offroad a bunch, leather upholstery and multimedia features might not be a necessity. Thankfully both Isuzu and Mitsubishi provide multiple versions of the D-Max and the L200.
